PENN NOTABLES

Selected Awards and Honors to Penn Faculty:
Guggenheim Fellowship Awards

Guggenheim Fellowships have been awarded annually since 1925 by the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, New York City. The Foundation was established by former United States Senator and Mrs. Simon Guggenheim as a memorial to their son who died in 1922.

The following list of scholars awarded Guggenheims while affiliated with Penn is comprehensive for the years after 1948; since records of recipients in earlier years are not as complete, it is possible that some Penn recipients during the years 1925 to 1948 have been omitted. The academic positions given are those held by the fellows at the time of their awards.

Whenever documentation is available, this list also includes scholars awarded Guggenheim fellowships before joining the Penn faculty.
