Arthur McKim was born in Milford, Delaware on September 1, 1844 to the Reverend John Linn McKim and Susan Agnes McGill.

McKim entered the University in 1861 as a member of the College Class of 1865, leaving at the close of freshman year. He became a teacher and died on February 20, 1872, in Georgetown, Delaware.
