| "Alumni
Day:" The Mingling of Two Generations at the Wharton School Description: The members of the
"Old Guard," prominent in this mid-1980s view on College Green, are likely alumni
of the undergraduate professional program at the Wharton School. The younger generation
seen here, some old enough to be young alumni and some still children, are far
more likely than their parents or grandparents to enroll in the Wharton Graduate
Division program leading to the Master of Business Administration degree. By the
mid 1990s annual MBA graduates consistently outnumbered undergraduates earning
the Bachelor of Science in Economics degree by a ratio of 4 to 3. Fifty years
earlier, at the Commencement of 1949, graduates earning the B.S. in Econ. degree
outnumbered those earning the MBA by a ratio of nearly 4 to 1. Photographer: unidentified Date: mid 1980's Medium:
