B.F. Diploma of Robert M. Adams (1884)
B.F. Diploma Awarded to Robert M. Adams in 1884, one of the first diplomas awarded by the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School [Translation of original Latin text] To all reading these letters, greeting. Since everywhere among the nations, institutions of higher learning have been established which are accustomed to decorate with just and fitting title men distinguished in philosophy, the sciences, and humane letters or [otherwise] well-deserving from the Republic [of Letters] . Therefore, we, the Provost, Vice-Provost, and other Professors of the University of Pennsylvania witness that the ingenious youth the Honorable Robert Adams A.M. has spent time among us fruitfully in literary and scientific studies and at an examination by the Trustees and Professors has proven that [with] the degree Bachelor of Finance we should invest him on the 13th of June in the Year of Grace 1884. And we have admitted him to all rights, honors, and privileges pertaining to that degree. In witness thereof on the aforementioned day and year at Philadelphia, we have subscribed [our names] and that there be greater faith, our Trustees consenting have ordered that the seal of our University be affixed.
