Description:
Prepared by the West Philadelphia Corporation, this map of Unit 3
details the developers for each property within the tract. The date
of the map is significant, as the summer and fall of 1967 was the time
when most demolition occurred. The University City Science Center was
the largest single developer, with contracts for five full city blocks
and a portion of a sixth. Conflict over displacement, however, had resulted
in a compromise arrangement and the map was annotated by hand to show
three spaces where low cost housing had been promised to those who demanded
it.
