University Archives and Records Center University Archives Service and Fee Schedule
The Archives Reading Room is open to the scholarly public. Researchers may also submit initial research inquiries by phone or email. The Archives' services include photocopying, film duplication, and electronic reproduction of images and text. Permission for publication is available for one-time, non-exclusive use. All services require pre-payment by check or credit card. Checks should be made payable to the "Trustees of The University of Pennsylvania." When publication is intended, an application for publication rights for any material quoted or reproduced from the University Archives must be submitted to the Archivist in writing. Any reproduction of material in the collections of the University Archives is at the discretion of the staff. Fragile and damaged materials cannot be photocopied but may be photographed subject to the approval of the archivists. The staff will handle all reproduction work. Fulfilling large reproduction requests (100 copies or more) are at the discretion of the staff. On site requests: Paper copies from microfilm: $.40 per page Off-site requests: Electronic reproductions, as TIF or JPEG files, of University Archives materials are available at the discretion of the Archives staff. Text-based material will only be reproduced in image format. The University Archives does not provide OCR services. No reproductive devices will be allowed in the Reading Room. An archivist will execute scanned reproductions on the Archives' scanner. Scanned images: $25.00 Limited film duplication services are available at the discretion of Archives staff. Fees to convert film depend on the original format of the film as well as on how it is to be converted. The cost of stock film, labels and cartridges are included in the fees. All commercial film uses are subject to a Stock Film/Video License fee.
A flat fee of $14.00 is charged for any research requests requiring photocopies and less than a half-hour to complete. All research requests requiring more than a half-hour are subject to $20.00 per hour charge in addition to any photocopy requests. The Archives is unable to provide extended research assistance.
