Maps: 1777 Atlas of Blockley Township Landowners, by J.M. Duffin, 2009

Atlas of Blockley Township by Landowners in 1777, by J.M. Duffin, 2009

Courtesy of University of Pennsylvania University Archives.

Cadastral maps prepared in GIS format of Blockley Township as it appeared in October 1777.  Included are an index plate, 16 individual plates and an index of landowners.

Each property is labeled with the name of the owner and the area (in acres and square perches) followed by  the date of purchase in parentheses.  The property lines and roads were reconstructed from original 18th century Philadelphia County land records and Court of Quarter Sessions road dockets available at the City Archives of Philadelphia.  Historical stream locations were reconstructed from 19th century property atlases.  All data is layered over the current street locations and river lines.
