Day 1996: Penn's Image of Diversity and Academic Achievement
Description:
Left to right are
the four honor men of the Class of 1996: Lenny Chang, Gil Beverly, Eric Tienou,
and Adam Matta. This 1996 Ivy-Day photograph embodies Penn's new image perfectly.
Although Ivy-Day is an enduring tradition at Penn, never before has it looked
so different. The University has not only distinguished the young scholars in
this picture, but also itself in its apparent diversity. Penn has elevated its
academic acclaim in recent years by recognizing and utilizing the multitude of
talents among its multi-cultural student body. Penn does indeed look different
and through such overt changes the University has achieved a level of renown inconceivable
to the Penn of the past. Photographer:
