John Frederick Harbeson (1888-), B.Arch 1910, M.Arch. 1911

Harbeson served as Chair of the Department of Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania from 1927 to 1935 and Acting Dean of the School of Fine Arts from 1929 to 1930. He was chiefly responsible for opening the architectural degree program to women. Harbeson worked with distinguished architect Paul Cret throughout most of his professional career. In 1945, following Cret's death, he established the firm of Harbeson Hough Livingston and Larson, now known as H2L2.
