Penn in the 18th Century

Samuel Sterrett (life dates?)

  • A.M. 1782
  • Secretary of the Trustees 1779-1783

From 1779 to 1783 Samuel Sterrett served as secretary of the board of trustees of the University of the State of Pennsylvania (which became the University of Pennsylvania in 1791).

Little is known of this man. He may have been the Samuel Sterett who died in Baltimore, Maryland in 1833, leaving at least one son and three daughters; a David Sterrett of Baltimore graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1793.
