    Probably the son of John Evans the 2nd of Chester County, this John Evans served as a justice of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court during and after the revolution. The Hon. John Evans was appointed as Trustee of the University of the State of Pennsylvania (now the University of Pennsylvania) in 1779 and served until his death in 1784.
