Access is granted in accordance with the Protocols for the University Archives and Records Center. This is the main collection for early administrative records of the University of Pennsylvania, particularly records from the offices of the Provost and of the Secretary. Before the establishment of the office of the President in 1930, the Provost served as the head of the University of Pennsylvania and was responsible for both the academic and the administrative activities of the university.
