This is the main collection for early administrative records
of the University of Pennsylvania, particularly records from the
offices of the Provost and the Secretary. Before the establishment
of the office of the President in 1930, the Provost served as
the head of the University of Pennsylvania and was responsible
for both the academic and the administrative activities of the
university.
